Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance - CMM Inspector 1 inspects machined components, sheet metal components, purchased products and standards, raw materials, assembled products and outside processing for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.  These duties are performed under supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Operates CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) to dimensionally inspect product with supervision.
2. Reads and interprets aerospace manufacturing drawings, including tolerances, customer specifications and technical requirements.
3. Accurately compares product to engineering drawings/specifications, purchase order, and manufacturing orders using common manual inspection equipment, (e.g., surface plates, micrometers, height gages, calipers, protractors, radius gages, profilometers, bore gages, PCMs, dial indicators, etc.) in order to accept or reject product.
4. Documents product acceptance/rejection on manufacturing order, processes appropriate rejection documentation if necessary, and performs move function in MRP system.

• Performs Rockwell and Eddy Current testing for product acceptance.
• Reviews outside processing certifications of nondestructive testing, chemical processing, and finish, and verifies physical appearance of final product for conformance to engineering specifications.

Education, Skills and Experience:

Required: 

• Minimum two years hands-on inspection experience in a regulated industry.
• Passing score on AMT Basic Level Engineering Drawings Test.
• Passing score on AMT Basic Level GD&T Test.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:

• Previous hands-on inspection experience in the aerospace industry.
• Previous CNC machining or CMM inspection experience.

Physical Demands:

1. Lifting up to 40 pounds.
2. Standing, walking and sitting throughout the work day.
3. Use of computer keyboard and mouse.

Work Environment:

1. The Quality Assurance – CMM Inspector 1 is required to enter the machine shop environment at times throughout the work day; this environment may include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vapor from coolant, etc.
2. Possible skin and inhaled contact with various sealants, paints, adhesives, and other chemicals may occur during inspection and other quality process activities.
3. Safety training is required and provided by the Company in accordance with applicable law, industry standards, and Company policy.
4. Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required.
