Job Summary:
The Engineering Manager participates in problem solving/technical investigations and resolution of technical challenges. This individual develops new and innovative manufacturing tools and processes to reduce cost and lead time. The Engineering Manager formulates and supervises processes, and production improvement methodologies. This position requires the development, planning, and implementation of manufacturing methods for products and technologies, while also ensuring that quality of the products. This individual also has managerial tasks such as making and implementing policies and procedures, as well as setting up manufacturing operations strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing cost.
- Develop plans for investment in capital equipment.
- Review customer documents to identify manufacturing requirements.
- Create & document processes to meet manufacturing requirements.
- Review labor estimates to be used in quoting new business opportunities.
- Provide value-added engineering subject expertise and project leadership.
- Continually improve product knowledge, market intelligence and technical skills that will enhance the quality of lead.
- Ensuring that all customer Requirements are satisfied
- Developing tooling required for manufacturing
- Assisting in the preparation of quotations
- Supervision of day-to-day activities
- Coordination of documentation and data to support hardware
- Monitoring of cost and schedule
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Exceptional influencing, relationship-building, collaboration, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
- Black Belt Certification Required
- Lead the engineering team and shared resources. Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team.
- Provide coaching, development of the team, and performance feedback.
Identify learning and development needs, and utilize resources that can meet those needs. - Reviews operating results of the organization, compares them to established objectives, and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
- Represents AMT with major customers.
Education, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education & experience. .
- Proficient with MRP, BOMS and Routings.
- Technical writing & capital justification ability.
- Knowledge about technical operations, business and financial skills
- 10+ years of engineering experience with progressive responsibilities within a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years experience in managing a group of employees of 5 or more.
- Team player with leadership skills
- Motivate team take responsibility for the operations
- Organization, communication and analytical skills
Work Environment:
- Primarily shared office environment.
- May be required to enter the machine shop environment at times throughout the work day; this environment may include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vapor from coolant, etc.
- Possible skin and inhaled contact with various sealants, paints, adhesives, and other chemicals may occur.
- Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required.
- Safety training is required and provided by the Company in accordance with applicable law, industry standards, and Company policy.
