Job Summary:

The Driver delivers and picks up goods, and is responsible for the maintenance records, cleanliness, operability and appearance of Company vehicles. These duties are managed and performed as directed by the specific requirements of the Customer, within approval guidelines and procedures established by the Materials Manager.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:     

  • Operates various vehicles to transport goods and materials in the Puget Sound area.

  • Operates forklifts, hand trucks and other light hand power equipment. 

  • Maintains cleanliness of vehicles.

  • Performs daily inspections and weekly written inspections on vehicles (including fluids levels, air pressure, etc.)

  • Maintains daily driving log files.

  • Files purchase order copies.

  • Turns in fuel receipts to accounting.

  • May perform minor maintenance and/or repair to vehicles (such as tire maintenance, wiper blades, fuses, etc.)

  • Reports required maintenance/repair issues to Shipping Manager.

  • Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Attributes:

  1. Motivated, dependable individual that exhibits a strong attention to detail.

  2. Valid Washington State Driver’s License.

  3. Excellent driving record meeting the standards required by the Company’s insurance policy.

  4. Ability to adhere to a flexible and demanding schedule that may result in short days, short-notice unscheduled overtime, or additional weekend shifts. 

Education, Skills and Experience:

 

Required:

 

  1. Experience in the use of hand and power tools such as hammer, drills, nail and staple guns, etc.

  2. Passing score on AMT Basic Math Test.

  3. High school diploma or equivalent.

 

Preferred:

 

  1. Approved training in forklift operation.

  2. High school diploma.

 

Physical Demands:

  1. Driving for extended periods of time. 

  2. Lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds. 

  3. Use of light hand and power tools such as hammers, nails, drills, staple or nail gun, etc. 

  4. Operation of a forklift.

Work Environment:

  1. Primarily shared office environment.

  2. May be required to enter the machine shop environment at times throughout the work day; this environment may include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vapor from coolant, etc.

  3. Possible skin and inhaled contact with various sealants, paints, adhesives, and other chemicals may occur.

  4. Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required. 

  5. Safety training is required and provided by the Company in accordance with applicable law, industry standards, and Company policy.
